GRAMMY®-nominated, RIAA-certified Gold®-selling alternative metal band releases RATING R today in digital and streaming outlets worldwide from RED ENTERTAINMENT / The Fuel Music. The band’s impressive artistry is the focus of their eighth studio album, produced by the RED guitarist Anthony Armstrong.
RED combines the band’s signature symphonic elements, piano-driven atmospheres and heavy but melodic guitar work with deep-seated and powerfully delivered messages RATING R is a thought-provoking project. The recording addresses several important and relevant themes, focusing on the ideological and interpersonal divisions, confrontations and suffering of modern society.
Building on the story RED has been revealing since their second LP (2009’s Innocence & Instinct), fans will appreciate how the band combines their cinematic past with today’s release of the video for their featured SiriusXM Octane RATING R Lead single “Surrogate mothers.” Premiered by HardDrive Radio, filmed on location in Utah with an 1888 Old West theme and conducted by the band’s drummer Brian MedeirosThe video is the prequel to the entire series, which has garnered over 170 million views on YouTube alone.

In addition to this performance video, there is a “The SaviorsA short film is released starring RED as a suspected outlaw whose sole purpose is to expose an evil taking over the small town of Condor, Utah. Filming was completed over four days in Utah and includes more than 50 extras as well as horses, guns, bar brawls and everything you’d expect from an old western. The film is said to be another chapter in the ongoing series that RED fans have come to love.
Along with the videos and single “Surrogates,” recently released tracks “Cold world” (written by Anthony and Keith Wallen of Breaking Benjamin) and “Without everything“,” RATING R Characteristics “Your devil is a ghost,“A powerful prayer for releasing past pain, added to SiriusXM Octane playlist next week.
RATING R also features the band’s largest lineup since 2015’s groundbreaking album Of Beauty and Rage. Former percussionist Joe Rickard, who contributed to 2017’s GONE and 2020’s GONE EXPLANATION, returns to mixing, programming and songwriting.
RED is taking his new music and fan favorites on an extensive international tour, kicking off the second leg of his The RATED R Tour in the US on November 3rd in Flint, MI. It visits 13 cities in nine states and ends at The Masquerade in Atlanta November 19th. After another run of U.S. dates in the winter/spring, RED will rock more than 135,000 attendees at the Graspop Metal Meeting festival from the main stage in Belgium next summer and plans to hit more festivals before traveling to 26 European cities in the fall 2024.
“He did great things on his own with bands like In Flames and All That Remains,” says Anthony. “We love getting him involved whenever we can. He’s fun to work with and a big part of RED’s history. So it’s exciting to have him on board.”
Arranger/composer David Davidson also takes care of the orchestration on the album, Teirney Armstrong She shared her spectacular voice and various other guests played their roles throughout the song sequence, demonstrating RATED R’s collaborative and creative abilities.
